I know that lady! That's Lady Grandeur Bourgeoisie!

This might explain why everybody in the Netherlands fixatedly watched "The Great Donor Show," but nobody recognized that Lisa, dying of a brain tumor and giving her kidneys to a lucky recipient, was really a Dutch actress. And a pretty famous one, at that.

My favorite Translator Robot, www.freetranslation.com , just surprised me a few months ago by adding English-Dutch Dutch-English! That says quite a lot about the present and future state of Dutch, often perceived as a tiny, isolated tongue wedged between English and German on a sad, slow road to extinction. With the Robot's kind assistance, and a little polishing from Agence-Vleeptron Presse, this filched blog bit about NL's most famous and most shocking superstar.

She doesn't have a brain tumor. She's an actress. For the attentive TV viewer, where have you seen Leonie Gebbink before? We Googled and found "Boss Across Kids" [Kinderen Zijn de Baas], a children's series from 1997 to 2001 on SBS6, about the Land of Ever [Het Land van Ooit, now a theme park]. Gebbink played the role of "Lady Grandeur Bourgeoisie," one of the Land of Ever's most famous inhabitants.

SBS means Scandinavian Broadcasting System. When the SBS Broadcasting Group started expanding outside of Scandinavia in 1995, they first started expanding in the Netherlands with SBS6. SBS6 was the third Dutch commercial TV station after RTL 4 and RTL 5.
