Eh ? I thought stem cell research is prohibited in the US. Would be a good thing if they would allow it IMHO.
Also neurosicences and stem stell research are still in their infancy, it will be AGES before we will see practical results, 10 to 15 years at least. Hell, neuroscientists still don't fully understand the brain, why start talking about transplants ? I applied for a job at a biotech company and read books about genetics some time back. Interesting and complicated, watch developments in this field, it is truly amazing what has been going on since the Human Genome Project decoded the DNA of one person. Apparently they can do it in WEEKS now instead of months....

It may sound cynical, but the the amount of organ doners is decreasing, so why not "breed" livers and kidneys ? Still sounds a bit scary and SciFi but just follow developments in stem cell research and if I am not mistaken then Craig Venter was able to artificially generate DNA. Maybe not with lab animals, but some other means. But we must find new solutions to old problems, the Waitng Lists for patiants who have to undergo painful routines like dalysis are too long.

Oh btw I used to think that Pinky & The Brain were lab rats. Am I wrong here ?

Tonight is a clear night btw, with the moon and stars shining, you reckon my old Zeiss binoculars will do ?

There's a lot of bankers, criminals and politicians with fully functioning rat brains. Cross breeding with disastrous results.

The Zeiss will be great for Jupiter, you should maybe discern The Great Red Spot. But Jupiter will be 3 or 5 times brighter than Sirius, the brighest star, so you don't even need the Zeiss to see Jupiter.

To see the Moons of J., you need a telescope.

... is not a PizzaQ

but it's all about a Very Very Big Noisy Thing that has just happened in US politics.

I can say no more. But 3 slices to the first Eurasian or African or Australian who identifies The Big Noisy Thing. 1 slice to the first USA person. 2 slices for the first Canadian.

Satire only makes sense when you know the butt of the joke and I just found out this afternoon after going though my podcasts.
if someone in europe would make such a statement they would laugh you out of the room. The Americans do the exact opposite. the person in question also does not believe in a famous acientific fact and thinks that something being heiled in a song by The Buzzcoks is wrong. Pfff.....

I wanted to memorialze and enshrine the Stupidest Event in the entire history of USA politics. I figure it will soon be so famous all over the Milky Way that I didn't have to identify the quote or who said it.

How does the quote read when DeutscheWelle or SuisseInfo translate it?

Does deutsches even have Werde so stupid for translation?

Mit der Dummheit kaempfen Goetter selbst vergebens.

Please note modification to stamp, this is the famous Graphic Novel "Maus" by Art Spiegelman, the son of two survivors of the Holocaust.

I just learned a new word in the American patois:

truthiness

Truthiness is something like Truth. It looks a lot like Truth, it smells like Truth, it sounds like Truth ...

people wearing nice clothes and fine haircuts broadcast Truthiness back and forth, on Fox News Channel, all over the Internet, just the way people used to broadcast Truth back and forth.

Truthiness: Barack Obama was born in Kenya, and thus is not Constitutionally elibible to be President of the United States. (About 15% of USA voters, called "Birthers," now believe this. Also about 15% believe Obama is Muslim.)

Abraham Lincoln (maybe, nobody's certain) said:

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.

***

If Lincoln said that, and if he was right, then relax, light up a Gaulois, maybe Sarkozy and Murdoch and Palin and this new Weirdeusse will soon be gone.

I would also like to recommend this book by Art Spiegelmam

Come to think of it, it sounds even DUMBER in german, that person is not only dumb, but she can't form a proper prhrase.

And for those who didn't get Bob's quite: Even the Gods must wrestle with stupidity.

Vleeptron Dude said...

Somehow that translation doesn't look like Schiller, Goethe or Durrenmatt.

patfromch said...

Heh which one ?
In any case this statement is pure journalistic gold. Under other circumstances this is the sort of stuff that would cost you an election, but apparently not in this case. Hm.
Just noticed a typo in the german one. Adjectives are not capitalized in german so id should be menschlichen not Menschlichen. Silly me.
