Turkmenistan is a Peace Corps country, but volunteers often find it hard to get things done there. According to reports from Peace Corps folks who worked there before coming here, all gatherings larger than three people required a government-issued permit while they were there, and a group of volunteers that was supposed to arrive to replace outgoing volunteers a while back was denied permission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs literally one day before they were supposed to leave the US. I'm glad I got Ukraine.
