S.W.M.B.O. & Bob's 14th Anniversary chili dog & pumpkin outing

We'd been up since dawn
and hadn't eaten anything on our wedding day, so as we drove 20 miles north to our reception dinner, we were starving, and pulled off U.S. Route 5 at Tom's Long Dogs for our first meal as husband and wife. The bride in her wedding gown and the groom in his suit (and cowboy boots) ate Tom's delicious and super-sloppy foot-long chili cheese dogs in the car, leaning out over the parking lot so we wouldn't drip chili on ourselves.

Every year since then we celebrate our anniversary with chili dogs and onion rings and fries at Tom's Long Dogs. It's also harvest time at the nearby Malinowski Pumpkin Farm, so we Halloween-up and buy some magnificent pumpkins and colorful gourds.

S.W.M.B.O. bought me a gorgeous reproduction fairy tale book first published in 1913. I researched and found that the traditional gift for the 14th Anniversary is ivory, but I didn't want to celebrate by slaughtering an elephant, so I bought the bride an excellent portable electric drill, and 3 bars of Ivory Soap (99 and 44/100 percent pure).

That was an excellent day. And I can't believe it was that long ago.
