haute cuisine Americaine / heart attack on a plate / but die happy

This seems to be what a hamburger at Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burgers looks like as filtered through the memory and mind of the artist. The television program which features this local favorite from Ann Arbor, Michigan will air at 10 pm US East Coast time tonight (Monday 21 January) on the Food Network.

I haven't snarfed down anything that looks like this in maybe six years. I really need to stop taking my physicians and nurses with me when I go out to eat. Genug with the Tofu and Mediterranean salad with a few drops of EVOO already.

Actually it's foot-long (0.33 meter-long) chili (hot) dogs that drive me wild with desire. With onions and hot sauce. I'll have the fried onion rings on the side, please.

Hi Bob,

tonight if I remember correctly the Food Channel or network or whatever is doing a short segment on "Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burgers", an Ann Arbor institution. There slogan is: "cheaper than food". So since you feel like you wasted your time watching the Michigan/Ohio State Game this 7 or 8 minute Ann Arbor culinary documentary might make up for it.

Ron

PS – michigan did win their bowl game with Florida.

american food. hm. i had some funny experiences while being in the states with food. Poo Willies in new orleans has the best sandwiches in town, but they were as big as my foot !
the best one was when i was visiting Disneyland in florida, now that was something. all i wanted was a medium soft dring, i think i got about a liter, i have often wondered what xl would be like. oh and that one where i was waliking down 5th avenue in nyc and found this very cool cofee shop and ordered a cup of cuffee or coafeeee as they say there. instead of a decent cup I got what looked almost like a full keg. What the hell am i supposed to do do with a keg of cofee ? Go without sleep for 4 days ??? and dont even get me starded on the food...

your eating habits scare us europeans, you are sick and overweight, i have never seen so many poeople with weight problems apart from a trip to Sydney where the stars are indeed brighter). heart attacks are definetly programmed, no wonder your health system is going down the drain. and now since the americans are exporting their eating habits with mc donalds and burger king and effing starbucks (lattecherrymacchiatocappuccino with bloody caramel flavour istead of coffee !! and donuts instead of butterkrapfen !!) we are now also exposed to the american eating way of life. thanks, lads !

movie tips: sicko and supersizeme. and sorry about the half-rant but the first time i walked into a starbucks i had a culture shock and have not recovered since

blimpy's is probably the second best burger i've ever had. keep having. i go there roughly once a month to get my fix. it's worth the drive from canada. they give out two dollar notes and fifty cent coins in change too. you can't order a single patty there either, or they'll boot you out of the restaurant. gotta start worth a double. a triple with an onion bun is usually my fav. if you're a blimpy virgin and let them know, they'll also give you a bonus surprise. the record i believe is 32 patties on a single burger. it's the kinda place where you deserve to get shot if you order a diet coke. oh yeah, if they don't like your face, they'll boot you out too. i'm glad i'm well liked. zingermans for dinner is a bonus too.

the best burger in the world though has to be mr. burger in karachi.

Hiya Abbas! Did you notice I finally figured out how to put blog links on VleeptronZ, and Hulleye's there!

You just might be the only guy I ever heard of who crosses international borders to eat a monster cheeseburger. But I sure do validate that behavior.

And you just might have tipped me over the edge to finally visit PK.

Apparently waiting for me in Karachi are the two most important things in the world: A good shave, and a great hamburger.

About ten years ago I decided to treat myself to a full-tilt hot towel straightrazor barber shop shave, and a horrible thing happened: The barber said No, we stopped doing that years ago.

He explained that the price barbers had to charge for shaves went up so bad that demand plummetted. And when a barber doesn't get much practice, it's sorta dangerous to shave a customer. It broke my heart, I used to love those barber shop shaves.

So it's off to Karachi for me for a shave and the world's best hamburger. Oh, and the airport halvah.

I like a guy who asks: Who wants to live forever? and orders a large fries with that.

I'm preparing a post with an image of a certain Thing in Toronto. How good are you at mindreading or precognition? Take a guess.

well go to OZ, they have fat burgers and in Townsville QLD there is still a barber shop where you can get a haircut and a shave for about 15 quid ....that reminds me of something....

Are we talking ground beef, or ground kangaroo? I just want to know before I start eating.

Burgers taste really good. I had one with mushrooms yesterday from McDonald's and it was so good. If we did not have to eat the, I would be okay with that because I do feel bad when I think about the cow. I feel bad when I think about any animal. On the other hand we need protein and it is an abundant source of iron which a lot of women especially lack. I would welcome alternative replacements. However, I must say it is in our genetic makeup to eat meat. If it were not, as DaVinci sublimely foreshadowed, I would not be upset. Just do not make me crave a cheeseburger and hand me soy on bun. Our genes tell us great things about our bodies, but our bodies tell us more.
